Dr. Brian Citro and Dr. Stephen Vargo are both highly trained and experienced general surgeons. They both share a commitment to providing the highest quality of care and compassion to their patients and their families. Together, Dr. Citro and Dr. Vargo offer a wide range of basic and advanced surgical procedures. These include advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures. There is a strong emphasis on reduced recovery times, decreased pain, and minimal loss of blood.

Brian Citro, MD

Brian Citro, MDDr. Brian Citro grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. His undergraduate education was completed at Hayward State University. He continued on to Ross University School of Medicine, based in New York, where he earned a Medical Doctor degree, graduating with High Honors. His General Surgery residency was completed at Michigan State University, Saginaw Campus where he served his final year as Chief Resident. While at Michigan State he had the opportunity to participate in various studies and research projects, winning accolades and awards for several presentations. He arrived in Las Vegas and opened his solo practice in 2006. During his time in Las Vegas, Dr. Citro has contributed to the community by serving in the following capacity at local hospitals:

Vice Chief of Staff – North Vista Hospital (1/10 – Present)
Chief of Surgery - North Vista Hospital (11/09 – Present)
Chief of Surgery – Mountain View Hospital (7/10 –6/13)
Medical Director of Woundcare – North Vista Hospital (1/09 – 5/12)

Dr. Citro is Board Certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons (FACS). He specializes in advanced minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures. In addition to general surgical procedures, Dr. Citro provides progressive surgical care for patients with gastrointestinal (colon) diseases, and breast masses. He has a straight forward, friendly interaction with his patients in hopes of empowering them to understand their medical care. In his off time Dr. Citro can be found cooking up a storm in his custom kitchen, playing the guitar, or relaxing with his Japanese hunting dogs.

Stephen Vargo, MD

Stephen Vargo, MDDr. Stephen Vargo hails from Plain City, Ohio, near Columbus. His undergraduate education was at The Ohio State University where he graduated Cum Laude (Go Buckeyes!). He continued on to earn his Doctor of Medicine at The Ohio State University, receiving the Navy Health Professions Scholarship. He then began his medical career in The United States Navy where he was accepted into training to become a Flight Surgeon.As a Flight Surgeon, he served in Pensacola, North Carolina and San Diego with Marine Corps squadrons, serving aboard both ships and land. Deploying two weeks after the 9/11 attacks, he served in both Pakistan and Afghanistan. He then returned to the US to complete his general surgery residency in San Diego. He went on to hold the positions of Staff Surgeon and Division Officer, serving in Kuwait and aboard ship in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He finished out his military career in Virginia, preparing surgical teams for operations overseas. Dr. Vargo arrived in Las Vegas in October 2009 to begin his civilian career. He is a Board Certified General Surgeon specializing in minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures including laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. He has a friendly bedside manner, all the while focusing on positive outcomes and quality patient care. In his off time, he enjoys listening to live bands, taking in the culture of Las Vegas’ varied arts and entertainment, traveling, and spending time with his family. Dr. Vargo serves as the Chairman of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at North Vista Hospital. He also enjoys participating in ringside medical care for combat sports (boxing, mixed martial arts (MMA), and Muay Thai kickboxing) in the Las Vegas area.
